Shida Shahabi
Stockholm-based composer Shida Shahabi began writing music for performing arts and film in 2014. She scored the short films Lake on Fire (2020) and Alvaret (2021), and recently scored Charlotte Le Bon’s renowned debut feature film Falcon Lake (2022); Teresa Sutherland’s feature film Lovely, Dark and Deep (2023); and Thibault Emin’s feature film Else, which premiered at TIFF in 2024.
In 2023, Shida collaborated with Icelandic choreographer Halla Ólafsdóttir on her dance piece Sylph, who has toured around northern Europe. The score for that piece was self-released on her own label Still Light.
She is also a critically acclaimed musician who debuted her album Homes in 2018, and has since continued releasing celebrated works like Shifts and Living Circle. She has toured all around Europe, has performed at festivals and venues such as BRDCST, Semibreve, the Barbican, Elbphilharmonie and Silent Green. She has also supported artists like PJ Harvey, Colin Stetson and A Winged Victory for the Sullen.
