George Shaw

Fueled by a childhood passion for '80s and '90s Saturday morning cartoons, genre films, and pop culture, George Shaw is a classically trained composer, conductor, orchestrator, and songwriter with over 200 credits across film, TV, trailers, and video games.

George’s scoring credits include the Annie Award-winning series Abominable and the Invisible City from DreamWorks Animation, Riot Games’ 2023 Lunar Revel cinematic, and composed additional music for Netflix’s Lost in Space. He also scored Baby Steps, produced by Oscar-nominated Li-Kong Hsu (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), animated feature Little Sorcerer, and Slamdance winning documentary The Kidnapping of Ingrid Betancourt.

A digital media pioneer, George collaborated with top creators like NigaHiga, Wong Fu Productions, KevJumba, Michelle Phan, RE:ANIME, and Joey Graceffa. He scored four seasons of YouTube Original’s Escape the Night (2 billion+ views), Wil Wheaton’s Tabletop for Geek & Sundry, and created the viral hit Star Wars Musical.

Beyond media scoring, George composed the ballet Through the Glass Ceiling, wrote a musical in 24 hours for Edge of Internment (top 3 winner of 2018 PGA Make Your Mark Weekend Shorts Competition), Music Directed The Geekie Awards, and premiered a concert work for orchestra and choir, Adventures Of Cumoo And Jumoo via the Sing Me a Story Foundation.

George studied composition and film scoring at the USC Thornton School of Music, and has won awards at Park City Film Music Festival and Asians on Film Festival. A fellow of Film Independent’s Project Involve, he was selected for the inaugural Universal Composers Initiative—the first major studio program for diverse composers. George, who is proud to be Taiwanese and Japanese, advocates for inclusion in Hollywood, having served as founding Vice President of the Composers Diversity Collective and current co-lead of the Television Academy’s AAPI Affinity Group.

A multi-instrumentalist, George plays clarinet, piano, guitar, Chinese and other world woodwinds, and is willing to turn any object into an instrument. He is currently developing several musical theater works for stage and animation. George resides in Los Angeles, where his plans for world domination include becoming more famous than Irish-playwright George Bernard Shaw, and perfecting time travel to take more naps.
